 Whats new in the world of scrapbooking?  Come find out.  Lets take a look at Paper Piecing.   Paper piecing was started around 1998 but, has recently become popular again.  What is Paper Piecing?

Paper piecing is taking small cutout pieces and putting them together to form a bigger picture.  Such as taking paper punch pieces of hearts and an oval and placing them together to make a butterfly.   You can keep it this simple or get much more elaborate.  You can create your own pictures from coloring books or any picture you like.

You start with a bottom piece, such as the teddy bear in this picture.  Then you add the paw pads,ears and nose.  Next layer the pieces on the nose and add the eyes and bow and buttons.

There is no right or wrong way to cut these pieces.  They can be whatever shape you come up with.  It will be easier if you try to use paper punch shapes.  This will give you less cutting out.  Create the bottom piece to fit the paper punch shapes.  You can find paper piecing patterns on the web or here at scrapbooking for beginners.  I have a 2 page layout with a paper pieced horse head.
